About Miami-Dade County Inmate Population

Finding someone held in Miami-Dade County custody means knowing which system holds them. Pre-trial county jail detainees appear on the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department roster. Sentenced state prisoners move to a separate Florida Department of Corrections database. Federal defendants and immigration detainees require their own federal locators. This site gathers links, instructions, and contact details for all of those systems in one place so you can find the right source quickly.

Why We Built This Site

Florida law makes most jail and corrections records available to the public. The challenge is navigating a custody map that spans county, state, and federal systems. The Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department runs the local county jail system and maintains its own online inmate search for people who are currently in MDCR custody or released within the past 72 hours. Once a person receives a state-prison sentence, their record moves to the Florida Department of Corrections Offender Network. Federal inmates are tracked through the Bureau of Prisons locator. Immigration detainees at a facility like Krome North Service Processing Center require a search through the ICE Online Detainee Locator System.

Knowing which door to knock on is half the work. We built this site to map that out clearly: one resource that explains each custodial layer, who it covers, and where to go when an online search does not return results. That includes phone numbers for MDCR's inmate records unit, step-by-step guidance for each locator, and contact details for every detention facility in Miami-Dade County.

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference website. It has no connection to Miami-Dade County, the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, the Florida Department of Corrections, the Bureau of Prisons, ICE, or any other government agency. We do not hold, access, or maintain any official government records.

  • We cannot release, hold, or transfer anyone in MDCR, FDC, BOP, or ICE custody.
  • We cannot post bond, arrange a bail payment, or schedule a jail visit on your behalf.
  • We cannot send money to an inmate's trust account or place a commissary order.
  • We cannot provide legal advice or represent anyone in court.
  • We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee schedule, or address shown on this site is current at the time you visit.

Only the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department, the Florida Department of Corrections, or the relevant federal agency can confirm current custody status, current charges, bond information, or release details. This site points you to the right office. The official answer has to come from them.
